Florida solar incentives in 2026: what's still available

The incentive picture changed at the start of 2026, so here is a straight, up-to-date look at what Florida homeowners and businesses can still put to work.

Florida's state-level exemptions (everyone)

Solar equipment is exempt from Florida state sales tax, which shaves money off the up-front price of a system. On top of that, a property-tax exemption keeps the home value solar adds from pushing up your tax bill, so your house is worth more without costing you more in property taxes. Both breaks apply to homeowners and businesses.

The federal picture

The federal residential credit closed at the start of 2026. The federal commercial solar tax credit, the 30% ITC, is still on the table through the end of 2026, and businesses can stack MACRS accelerated depreciation on top of it. If you run a company, the numbers are still compelling, and you can run them yourself with the calculator on our commercial solar page.

What this means for you

For homeowners, the case for going solar now rests on the state exemptions plus decades of savings against a rising Duke Energy bill, and that case gets stronger with battery backup. For businesses, 2026 is a real window while the federal incentives still take a meaningful bite out of the net cost.
